The Buhl Farm Tennis Courts will open for the 2008 summer season Memorial Day Weekend. As in the past, courts can be reserved four days in advance from Memorial Day to Labor Day. During late spring and early fall, court sign-up will be on Saturday and Sunday only. Court sign-up time will continue to be from 8 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Courts may be reserved for a maximum of two hours at a time for either singles or doubles.

Tennis players looking for a hit can be put on the ‘Hit List’ which is posted on the sign-up board at the courts. Private and group tennis lessons are available from Sue McLaughlin, the director of tennis.

Adult Programs

ä Adult Beginner Lessons — Learn the basics of the game in eight group lessons from 11 a.m.-noon beginning Saturday, June 14 through Aug. 16.

ä Mixed Doubles — Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning from 8-11 a.m. No sign-up necessary.

ä Sharon Open Tennis Tournament — Early August; applications will be available at the courts in July. Organized by the Shenango Valley Tennis Club

Additional tournament applications will be available at the courts throughout the summer. Check the sign-up board for details.

Junior Programs

ä Buhl Club Lessons — Dates to be announced; 10-11 a.m, beginners; 11-noon, intermediates. Grades 4-12. Must have Buhl Club membership. Register at the Buhl Club. Instructor to be announced.

ä Junior Beginner Lessons — Tuesdays, June 17-Aug. 12. Noon-1 p.m. Learn the basics of tennis. Open to all students in grades 7-12. Cost Free. Register at the courts at the first lesson. Instructor Sue Mc-Laughlin

ä Junior Advanced Clinic — Thursdays, June 19-Aug.14; noon-1 p.m. Round-robin competitive play for the advanced player. Open to all students in grades 7-12. Cost Free. Register at the courts at the first lesson. Instructor McLaughlin

ä Girls' High School Tennis Team practice — Begins Aug. 11. For information contact Sharon and Kennedy Catholic high schools athletic departments or call McLaughlin at the tennis courts at 962-3643.

ä Buhl Day Junior Tennis Tournament — Saturday, Aug. 23. Boys’ and Girls’ Singles 18-under. Applications will be available at the courts Aug. 1.
