ä Kennedy Catholic 10, Sharon 1 — At Hermitage, the host Lady Golden Eagles eased to their 5th consecutive win as Liza Catania clubbed a single, double and triple and drove in 3 runs and Sarah Ritchey ripped 3 hits.
Kennedy’s Katie Ritchey scattered a half-dozen hits in a complete-game pitching performance in which she fanned 5 and walked 3. Also for KC (8-6), Cassie Fill, Emily Friedrich and Carlie Trenga all stroked a pair of safeties, with one of Fill’s being a two-bagger for head coach John Vasconi.
For Sharon (7-6), starting hurler Julie Norris was touched for 11 hits and 6 runs in 4 frames. Offensively for the Lady Tigers, Ellen Anderson and Kamala Black both singled twice.
ä West Middlesex 7, Sharpsville 2 — At West Middlesex, Bobbi Frazzini ripped 2 doubles, drove in 3 runs and scored for the Ms. Reds (12-3). Also for West Middlesex, Carrie Young singled, tripled, had 1 RBI and scored twice, and both Mandi Kedrick and Kori Aubel had an RBI-double and scored.
Heather Michaels went the distance for the Ms. Reds. She struck out 2, didn’t issue a walk and only allowed 4 hits.
Kaitlin Stewart only lasted one-third of an inning for the Blue Darlings. She gave up 4 runs on 5 hits.
ä Reynolds 8, Mercer 3 — At Thiel College, Erin Scott twirled a complete-game 4-hitter (all singles) and doubled and singled at the plate with 2 RBI as the Lady Raiders (6-8) topped the Lady M’s.
Scott struck out 8 and walked 6.
At the plate, Stephanie Collenette and Chelsea Greenfield both had 3 singles and 2 RBI, Kristen McDonald tripled and singled, Kelsey Gearhart doubled and singled and Lindsey Gruber ripped a pair of singlets.
Cassie Lipinski suffered the loss. She fanned 6, walked 3 and allowed 4 runs on 7 hits for Mercer. Jessica Trott struck out 5 and walked 4 in relief.
ä Slippery Rock 3, Grove City 2 — At Slippery Rock, a pitchers’ duel developed between righties Morgan Robinson and Chelsea Filer.
Grove City’s Filer took a 2-1 lead into the Slippery Rock 7th stanza and was an out away from victory. However 4 consecutive Slippery Rock singles, the last by Bennett, lifted the Lady Rockets.
