Herald Staff reports

The District 10 Class AA Singles Tennis Championship began on Saturday morning at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie.

The title match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday.

No local results were reported to The Herald, either by coaches or via fax. Also, no results were posted on either the District 10 or Pennbriar web sites.

TRACK & FIELD

The West Middlesex High boys team finished 3rd overall at Saturday’s Oil City Invitational with 54 points.

Adam Shrawder placed 1st in the 800 (2:00) and Mark Saylor took 1st in the long jump (20-5) and 2nd in the pole vault (13 feet).

Matt Lawhead earned 2nd-place finishes in the 1600- (4:37.43) and 3200-meter (10:26.50) runs.

WM’s 3200 relay team, comprised of Colby Howe, Jon Jancso and Jason and Kyle Devlin, placed 2nd with a time of 9:04.78.

Kyle Devlin also took 5th in the 3200 (11:00.78).

A limited amount of girls competed in the event for coach Bob Morris due to the prom.

Karen Willey, Lauren Shingledecker, Morgan Swartz and Kayla Shacklock teamed up to take 3rd in the 3200-meter relay (10:49.80).

Willey was 3rd in the 800 (2:31.11) and Swartz placed 3rd in the 3200 (12:32.48).

ä Kennedy Catholic’s Katie Cianci defended her Oil City title in the 800 with a time of 2:22.30. She was also 2nd in the 400 (1:02.20).
