Hickory United Methodist changes Dec. schedule
HERMITAGE — Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Hermitage Road, will conduct one worship service, at 10 a.m. Sundays, during the month of December. Sunday school will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
The children’s Christmas program is set for Sunday and the choir cantata for Dec. 14.
Unity Presbyterian sets Garton handbell concert
LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIIP — “The Sweet Sound of Bells” is set for 7:30 p.m. today in Unity Presbyterian Church, 1857 Mercer-West Middlesex Road. Sue Garton of Slippery Rock will be soloist on English handbells.
She has performed since 1995 as a handbell soloist and is rated as one of the top three English handbell soloists in the country. A member of American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, she and her husband Steven have written and published arrangements for bells.
She plays with the handbell choir at East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City and travels around the country giving concerts and handbell workshops and seminars.

Alternate gift mart open at Trinity Presbyterian
MERCER — An alternative gift market will be open before and after the 11 a.m. service Sunday in Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St. The market allows people to make a gift donation to Ministry of Hope in Malawi, Heifer International or the Medical Benevolence Fund.
Each donation made to honor or memory of someone will pay for, among other items, bicycles for children, blankets, or farm animals to a third-world country.
A recital of Christmas carols will be held starting at 10:35 a.m.
The church’s mission committee offers free gift-wrapping service to the community from noon to 7 p.m. Mondays in the former Murphy’s Building on North Pitt Street, Mercer. Free refreshments and entertainment will be provided.
Community Baptist plans gospel music playlet
FARRELL — A gospel music playlet will be staged at 5 p.m. Sunday in Community Missionary Baptist Church, 1013 Emerson Ave.
The drama-comedy will be directed by David Odem Sr. Featured solo artists will include Sally Pinson, Joyce Harrison, Vincent Chavers, Barbara McKenzie, Betty Lee and Annie Saunders.
Fatima apostolate meets in Fatima–St. Ann hall
FARRELL — Our Lady of Fatima World Apostolate of Fatima, USA/Mercer County Chapter of the Erie Diocesan Division meets at 1:30 p.m. the first Sunday of the month in the hall of Our Lady of Fatima–St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd.
Crossing Paths plans Christmas banquet
HUBBARD — Crossing Paths local television ministry based in Hermitage will hold its annual Christmas banquet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in Brentford House, 737 Myron St. Hubbard.
Bob and Shelly Zwingler will be special guests. Through a bankruptcy, Zwingler gave his heart to the Lord, and a year later Mrs. Zwingler came to know Jesus as her personal Savior.
In 1989, by direction from the Lord, they stepped out in faith and started a Christian auto business and now have two locations. Zwingler conducts a seminar called “Building Businesses for the Kingdom.”
Jim Leas will minister in music. An offering will be received. Children younger than 12 should not attend.
Reservations are needed for the dinner buffet. Sponsors are sought to defray expenses. Table sponsorship is $90 for a table of eight. Those attending will chose their table upon arrival.

Altar-Rosary, Holy Name societies set activities
FARRELL — Members of the Altar-Rosary Society will meet at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 to recite the Rosary before 9 a.m Mass in Our Lady of Fatima–St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd.
A Christmas party will be held at 2 p.m. in the Marian Room. Party reservations must be made by calling Olga Caput at 724-347-1112 by Monday.
Also, a total consecration according to St. Louis Marie de Montfort will be held at the 8:30 a.m. Mass Dec. 12 in the church.
Holy Name Society members will also attend the 9 a.m. Mass Dec. 14. A breakfast meeting will follow in the cafeteria of Monsignor Geno J. Monti School chapel, 1225 Union St., Farrell. A Christmas sing-a-long with John Bernat is planned.
Sheakleyville U.M. to ‘Sing of Christmas’
SHEAKLEYVILLE — “Sing We Now of Christmas” will be performed at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in Sheakleyville United Methodist Church, state Route 19. The Singing Chargers will present the program.
Locals part of Youth Movement concert
NEW CASTLE — Youth Movement Council’s Youth Power Night Winter Concert at 6 p.m. Dec. 13 in Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, 1119 S. Jefferson St.
Choirs, praise dancers, musicians, mimes and gospel rappers from churches including Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, and Second Baptist Church, all Farrell; and Ruth African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Sharon, will perform.
An offering will be received.
