As I am sitting down to type this article, my mind keeps thinking about what I heard someone say the other day: “I think God has forgotten me.”

Now I know that times can get tough, and I believe many throughout our nation might be claiming those very sentiments as I write — rising unemployment, banks failing right and left, the government bailing out seemingly the wrong people, money being tight, thousands of dollars in our retirement accounts lost, our houses being foreclosed, the family unit in shambles, the very foundation on which our nation was built being attacked unmercifull our relationships not meeting our expectations, it has been one of the coldest winters in a long time ... blah blah blah blah blah.

Now let me just say I have felt like it sometimes, too — like God had forgotten me. But do you really think that God forgets? Why is it that when things are not going especially the way we like them to go, or things might be getting a little hard, that it’s God’s fault. When things are going well, do we give God the credit?

Again, let me remind you I have felt the same way, so I am not saying that I am perfect. I wouldn’t dare. I am on the same journey as everyone else, taking one step at a time, albeit some steps are harder than others.

I just don’t think we need to blame God for our hard times, or think that He has forgotten us. Remember, He knit us together in our mothers’ wombs. Nothing is impossible for God. He who began a good work in us will complete it.

Shall I go on? OK, I will. He loves all He has made and hears the cries of those who call to Him in truth. Now, as you read these scriptures I don’t think misinterpretation is the problem. They pretty much mean what they say. What is so hard to understand with “nothing is impossible for God?”

Now I am not saying we are stupid, I just think we make things harder than they need to be.

Have you ever asked yourself this question: Do I really believe the Bible? I know you may read it daily and can recite multitudes of verses. But do you really believe it? That the very words that are contained within the 66 books, written during a period of 1,400 years with 40 different authors, were from the very mind of God?

As the scriptures say, they were God-breathed. Do I really trust them? If I do, why do I ask or think dumb things like He has forgotten me? Why do we sit in front of our TVs in fear of what may happen to us? Do not the scriptures say that He holds all things together? And that for Him and through Him all things were created?

As you sit there and read this, it is my prayer that you and I allow the truths of God’s Word to blot out the lies of the enemy. Praise God that He will never leave us or forsake us, or that the righteous will never be seen begging for bread, and nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Sounds like we should be asking ourselves, “Have we forgotten God?”
