• Justin Uber, 20, of 215 N. Broad St., was charged after police found him at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in a side yard on West Poplar Street near South Center Street, police said.

• Justin Uber, 20, of 215 N. Broad St., was charged after police found him at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in a side yard on West Poplar Street near South Center Street, police said.

He was charged with public drunkenness, underage drinking, possession of a small amount of marijuana and posession of drug paraphernalia, said a district court spokeswoman.

• A fire of undetermined cause Thursday destroyed a garage at 590 Cedar Ave. and damaged two neighboring garages and a sport-utility vehicle, firefighters said.

Firefighters were called at 1:48 a.m., and the garage was ablaze when they arrived. The property is owned by Deann McCloskey, firefighters said.

Siding, an exterior wall and the roof was damaged at the garage at 638 Plum St. owned by Joyce Reefer, and siding and the SUV at 589 Spruce Ave. also were damaged, firefighters said. The garage at 589 Spruce is owned by India Malloy and Calvin Jefferson, firefighters said.

All property owners had insurance.

State police

• James H. Simpson, 48, of Youngstown, was charged with possession of marijuana for having three joints, police said. Police said they stopped Simpson at 9:30 a.m. June 25 eastbound on Interstate 80, Shenango Township, for not having a department of transportation number on his truck.
