• James M. Combine, 24, of 270 Boyd Drive, Hermitage, was picked up Tuesday morning on a warrant for burglary, receiving stolen property and criminal trespassing in connection with a burglary June 2 at a business in the 100 block of American Way, police said. Three industrial chippers, a welding gun, an impact gun and several grinders were taken and police said Combine sold them to someone in northern Mercer County. The items have been returned, police said.
• Andrew W. Kiester, 20, of 1204 Main St., Sharpsville, and Ryan M. Campbell, 19, of Youngstown, were each charged with theft from a motor vehicle, conspiracy and underage drinking Tuesday afternoon after police said they stole an iPod from a car.
• Donald Markus Vantassel, 21, of 2190 Homewood Drive, Hermitage, was charged with theft after police said he took a pension check Tuesday afternoon from a mailbox in the 300 block of Ellsworth Street and tried to cash it.

• Thurman Paul Likens, 32, of 224 First Ave. Apartment A, Sharon, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. Route 60 in Shenango Township, police said.
State police

• Someone siphoned about 18 gallons of gas and stole 1- and 5-gallon gas cans filled with gas between 11 p.m. Friday and 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Forest Brooke Trailer Park, Lackawannock Township, police said. The value of the gas was about $119.
• D’Avanzo’s Italian Grille, Hermitage, was charged by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for buying alcoholic beverages with a check that drew on insufficient funds, police said. Penalties could range from a fine of $50 to $1,000, or if the offense is serious, up to $5,000.
A spokesman from the restaurant said the mistake stemmed from a banking error and that it’s been taken care of.

• Robert J. Schleich, 45, Wampum; at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday for bad checks.
