SOUTH PYMATUNING TOWNSHIP

A Farrell man is charged with choking and beating a South Pymatuning Township woman at her home and assaulting her teenage son.

Robert Allan Ekis Sr., 30, of 1118 Hamilton Ave., was charged Dec. 9 by South Pymatuning Township police with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and two counts each of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned Dec. 15 by District Judge Brian Arthur and is free on bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 22.

According to the police complaint:

Police were called around 11:20 p.m. Dec. 8 for a domestic dispute at 3096 Springwood Drive, where Stacy Miller accused Ekis of hurting her. Ekis ran away before police arrived.

Ms. Miller and her 13-year-old son were very upset and frightened. She and Ekis had been at a Sharon bar and he had several beers before they returned to her home.

They argued over her ex-boyfriends and his ex-girlfriends and moved to her bedroom, where he hit her across the face, shoved her on the bed, climbed on top of her and started choking her.

Ms. Miller’s son heard yelling and saw Ekis choking his mother. Ekis smiled and said “we are just playing.” Ms. Miller got away from Ekis by hitting and scratching him and went downstairs, where he hit her again in the face and knocked her son to the floor.

She put trash bags containing Ekis’ belongings outside, where he hit her and she fell against his car and onto the muddy ground. Ms. Miller kept saying she called the police and her son came outside with a baseball bat, telling Ekis to leave or he’d hit him.

Ekis ran into the woods and was later arrested.
