PYMATUNING TOWNSHIP

A Greenville man on crutches was robbed of his prescription painkillers Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Reynolds Plaza, Pymatuning Township, police said.

William R. Meyers, 51, of 100 Clarksville St., recently had a hip replaced and was picking up a prescription for Oxycodone around 9:50 a.m. at Reynolds Drug Store, 3676 N. Hermitage Road, patrolman Michael Brown said.

When Meyers reached his car, a white man wearing a black bandana on his face pushed him against the vehicle from behind, grabbed the pills and ran off, headed north.

Meyers told police he tried to go after the man but couldn’t because of the crutches. Meyers wasn’t injured and didn’t get a good look at the robber since he was pushed from behind, Brown said.

Several witnesses told police the man was hanging around the parking lot that morning and none of them nor Meyers recognized him as someone who lives or works in the area.

Pymatuning and surrounding police departments and a K-9 unit from the Vernon Township, Crawford County, police department searched the neighborhoods and woods surrounding the plaza for several hours but did not find the robber, Brown said.

Witnesses described the robber as a young, skinny man wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with dark hair and blue eyes. He’s about 6 feet tall.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Pymatuning police at 724-646-1155 or the non-emergency number for 911 at 724-662-6110.
