Father, daughter killed in Lackawannock Township car crash

A father and daughter were killed in a two-car crash Saturday on Mercer-Pulaski at Orchard Road in Lackawannock Township.
State police said Robert Stumph, 84, of 766 Orchard Road, was driving a 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme north on Orchard Road at about 5:25 p.m.
His 44-year-old daughter, Amy K. Stumph, with whom he lived, was a passenger. Stumph pulled from a stop sign at the intersection of Mercer-Pulaski Road and into the path of a car driven by Jamie Lee Hess, 36, of 225 Stonepile Road, Wilmington Township.
Hess� car struck the right side of Stumph�s, police said. The father and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Mercer County Coroner Gerald Smith, police said.
Stumph was a World War II veteran and retired soil conservation officer. Ms. Stumpf was a graduate of West Middlesex High School and loved dancing and working puzzles.
