A father and daughter were killed in a two-car crash Saturday on Mercer-Pulaski at Orchard Road in Lackawannock Township.

State police said Robert Stumph, 84, of 766 Orchard Road, was driving a 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme north on Orchard Road at about 5:25 p.m.

His 44-year-old daughter, Amy K. Stumph, with whom he lived, was a passenger. Stumph pulled from a stop sign at the intersection of Mercer-Pulaski Road and into the path of a car driven by Jamie Lee Hess, 36, of 225 Stonepile Road, Wilmington Township.

Hess’ car struck the right side of Stumph’s, police said. The father and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Mercer County Coroner Gerald Smith, police said.

Stumph was a World War II veteran and retired soil conservation officer. Ms. Stumpf was a graduate of West Middlesex High School and loved dancing and working puzzles.
