JoAnne Varga’s excellent letter reminded me that the convoluted ways our votes are used is the reason “this Bush thing” is in office.

How did this come about? Why not use the popular vote to elect our president? How many people know that their votes are not counted in the way they understand them to be? Who is to blame for this messed-up way of voting?

About our impossible oil prices. Yes, we will start thinking twice on driving. I don’t think that will make a difference.

Why do we users pay more and more as the top executives rake in more and more? Shouldn’t there be a cap on how much they can bleed us for? Somehow there is something wrong that they get rich on the poor man’s back.

They should not be able to sleep at night. But they will. Alas.
