Published April 24, 2008 01:17 pm - We are going out of business by the thousands every week. But there are even bigger issues at hand.

High as they are, fuel costs are still secondary issues

Robert Hainley

Sharpsville

As many of us well know the upcoming election is pretty much do or die for the near and far future of the United States of America. As the campaign drags on, and the field narrows we really need to pay attention and do our homework.

Clinton says Barack is an elitist and out of touch. Not so. At least he realizes we are bitter. I am very bitter!

I became an owner-operator truck driver in September 2004; paid off my older model truck in less than a year. Diesel was still about $2.50 a gallon in February 2007. I upgraded to a 2002 thinking things would turn around. In March 2008, I was forced out of business with diesel at $4.21 a gallon.

The high cost of fuel is passed on to consumers in everything they buy. Often the trucking companies and freight brokers pocket most, or all, of the fuel surcharge.

We are going out of business by the thousands every week. But there are even bigger issues at hand.

Yes, I cling to my faith, hoping God will help each and every one of us to get through these times and make an educated decision.

I was raised to respect firearms, their use and the prey I legally hunted, along with the beauty of God’s country.

I think the issue may be between the elimination of religion in government buildings, schools and so-called political correctness (Merry Holidays?) and the push to take guns away from law abiding citizens and leave criminals armed and dominant.

Yes I know! Many of us are bitter. Rightfully so. This is our line in the sand and we will fight for our constitutional rights to freedom of religion and the right to bear arms.
