The crowd bowls and cheers during the Shenango Valley Special Games. Some 400 people showed up Thursday for a multi-faceted sporting event that featured events like bowling, swimming, track and field. The children, who come from all over Mercer County and share a broad spectrum of mental or physical disabilities, split into two groups, with half going to the Olympic Center in Hermitage and half to Thornton Lanes in Sharon before switching. Today they are slated to do their track and field events, said organizer Lois Kilbert.
