Published December 02, 2008 02:45 pm - A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday for Louis William Resler, St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, formerly of Sharon. He passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. on Saturday (11-29-08) in his residence of natural causes. He was 97.

Westinghouse retiree was avid league bowler
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday for Louis William Resler, St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, formerly of Sharon. He passed away peacefully at 7:55 p.m. on Saturday (11-29-08) in his residence of natural causes. He was 97.
Mr. Resler was born on Saturday, May 6, 1911, in Farrell, a son of Andrew and Rose Kruse Resler.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Farrell schools.
In 1973, Louis retired with 45 years of service from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was a group leader in Building B-10.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, and belonged to Local 617 of the International Union of Electrical Workers and the Westinghouse Clerks and Retirees associations.
In his early years, Louis enjoyed bowling with both the WPIC and Senior Citizens Bowling leagues.
His wife, the former Anna Virostick, whom he married on April 26, 1920, passed away on Sept. 18, 2002.
He is survived by: his three sons, Louis W. Resler Jr. and his wife Beverly, Bethlehem, Pa.; James Edward Resler and his wife Florence, Ballston Spa, N.Y.; and Paul Andrew Resler, Centennial N.Y.; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Behun; three brothers, Andrew, Joseph, and Frank Resler; and a grandson, Timothy Resler.
