Robert D. Myers, a resident for four years of 20 Orchard Manor Drive, Pine Township, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, after an extended illness. He was 86.
Mr. Myers was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Parker, Clarion County, to Clark R. and Alma Katherine Fox Myers.
A retired auto salesman, he was formerly employed with Jerry Taylor Ford and Webster Motor Sales, both Grove City.
Mr. Myers served as a security guard at Cooper-Bessemer, Grove City, and Ward Trucking, Barkeyville; and worked at the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant; and as an attendant at interstate rest areas for Keystone Blind Association.
For 13 years, Mr. Myers was a meter reader for Grove City Borough.
A Navy veteran, he served during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Stanley Snyder Post 7465, Springfield Township.
He also belonged to Mercer United Methodist Church.
His wife, the former Mary Ellen McAninch, whom he married June 22, 1949, passed away Aug. 2 of this year.
Surviving are: two daughters, Shyrl Lee Myers and Rose Mary Mathieson, both Grove City; a granddaughter, Jamie Erin Palmer; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Alyssa Beall; two brothers, Gerald R. Myers and his wife Sandra, Grove City; and Carl E. Myers and his wife Marlene, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Wyatt Palmer; and two brothers, Harold Eugene Myers and Earl F. Myers.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (10-13-08) in the funeral home with the Rev. John “Jack” D. Patterson, retired United Methodist pastor of Grove City, officiating.
Interment: Woodland Cemetery, Grove City.
