Andrew Ferencz of Monessen died Saturday (10-4-08) in Trinity Living Center, Grove City. He was 98.
Andy was born Aug. 26, 1910, on the North Side of Pittsburgh, the son of Andrew and Mary Ferencz.
He was married to Kathryn Drop in 1941, and celebrated a marriage of 57 years before her death in 1998.
In addition to his wife Kathryn, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Uram, Ann Hornack, Sue Revak, Kate Ferencz and Marge Morycz; and a brother, George Ferencz.
He is survived by his brother, Frank Ferencz, Tustin, Calif.; and his daughters, Susan Burdick, Grove City; and Frances Skira and her husband Charles Skira, Tipp City, Ohio.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Appel, Pittsburgh; Seth Burdick, Grove City; Greg Burdick and his wife Toi, Lakeland, Fla.; and Amy, Aaron, Matt and Charley Skira, all Ohio; and one great-grandchild, Miranda Burdick, Lakeland.
Andy was employed with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel for 47 years and was a member of the Instrument Society of America.
He was a member of Monessen Lions Club; a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Monessen Lodge 773; and a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Trinity Living Center’s Alzheimer’s Unit for their constant care and compassion.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (10-7-08) in ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME Inc., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen. Parish Rosary will be at 2 p.m. and Services for the Dead at 7 p.m., both that day in the funeral home. A blessing will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (10-8-08) in the funeral home.
Service: Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen.
Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.
