Published October 06, 2008 02:45 pm - Gladys M. Hassell, 745 Greenville Road, Coolspring Township, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday (10-5-08) in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an 18-month illness. She was 87.

Gladys M. Hassell, 745 Greenville Road, Coolspring Township, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday (10-5-08) in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an 18-month illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Hassell was born June 22, 1921, in Mercer to James W. and Ida Mae Stowe Thompson.
She was a homemaker, attended Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer and was a member of its Fun Club.
Her husband, Edward C. Hassell, whom she married July 29, 1944, died Feb. 22, 1986.
Surviving are: a son, Ronald Hassell and his wife Paulette, Mercer; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Hassell; four brothers, Ralph, Emmett, Norman and Willis Thompson; and a sister, Helen Urey.

Service: Funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. William P. Cooks, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mercer, officiating.
Interment: Findley Township Cemetery.
