Mrs. McLaughlin was born July 5, 1923, in Connellsville, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Anna Medvec Yersky.

She lived in Connellsville for 18 months before moving to Farrell in 1924.

She attended St. Ann’s Parochial Grade School and graduated from Farrell High School in 1941. After graduation, she took courses from the American Institute of Banking, and worked from 1942 to 1950 in the Trust Department of the former McDowell National Bank, Sharon, now National City Bank.

Her husband, Charles J. McLaughlin, a veteran, businessman and educator, whom she married June 21, 1947, passed away March 24, 1996.

She had been an active member since 1947 of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon.

Throughout her adult life, Lois volunteered her time and talents to several organizations including being a member of the Sharon Regional Health System Auxiliary; a Girl Scout leader and a member since 1960 of the Penn Lakes Girl Scout Council; a Cub Scout den leader; and an American Cancer Society and American Heart Association volunteer.

Lois enjoyed reading, entertaining, gardening, playing cards and traveling, both domestically and abroad.

She is survived by: two sons, Charles J. McLaughlin, Toledo, Ohio; and Joseph C. McLaughlin, Sharon; a daughter, Susan L. McLaughlin, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Nicholas C. McLaughlin and his wife Laura, Hudson, Ohio; Lindsay McLaughlin, Allison McLaughlin and Julia McLaughlin Ruetz and her husband Will, all Toledo; and Diane McLaughlin, Cleveland; two great-grandchildren, Morgan McLaughlin, Hudson; and Isabelle McLaughlin, Toledo; a sister, Antoinette Yonchak, Louisville, Ga.; five nephews; and two nieces.

Besides her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Yersky; a brother-in-law, Stephen Yonchak; a sister-in-law, Arlene Yersky; and a niece and nephew.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buhl Farm Park, Box 709, Sharon 16146; or Sharon Regional Health System Angel Tree Fund at the Cancer Care Center, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.
