Published September 05, 2008 07:01 pm - Michael Varsho, 502 S. 4th St., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 6:02 p.m. Thursday (9-4-08) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. He was 88.

Michael Varsho, 502 S. 4th St., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 6:02 p.m. Thursday (9-4-08) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. He was 88.

Mr. Varsho was born on Friday, Nov. 14, 1919, in McAdoo, Pa., a son of Michael and Mary Klembara Varsho.

He worked at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. and retired in 1982 with 41 years of service.

Mr. Varsho was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and American Carpatho-Russian Citizens and Social Club, both Sharon.

In his youth, he volunteered for Civilian Conservation Corps in both Sheffield, Pa., and Silver City, N.M.

His wife, the former Thelma Valentino, whom he married Nov. 22, 1945, passed away May 20, 1996.

He leaves: his daughter, Patricia Manzo and her husband Joseph, West Middlesex; two sons, Michael P. Varsho and his wife Bonnie, West Middlesex; and Larry J. Varsho, Hubbard; two sisters, Anna Petrosky, Hermitage; and Helen Brestelli, Sharpsville; a brother, George Varsho and his wife Kate, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Christopher and Patrick Manzo; Holly and Kelly Varsho; and Jason Varsho; and two great-grandsons, Drew and Lucas Manzo.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Zieminick; and two brothers, John and Joseph Varsho.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Joseph’s Food Pantry, 79 Case Ave., Sharon 16146.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday (9-8-08) in St. Rose Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, as celebrant.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
