Nicholas “Nick” A. Andrak, Box 52, Hartford, passed away at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Hospice of the Valley, Poland, Ohio, after a brief illness. He was 66.

Mr. Andrak was born on Friday, Feb. 6, 1942, in Sharon to Andrew J. and Maria R. Stiftinger Andrak.

He retired in 1993 as a clerk in the shipping department of the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant, where he worked for 29 years.

Nick served in the Army in the Vietnam era.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith and belonged to Fin-Fur-Feather sportsman’s club and the Martial Arts Federation.

Nick was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, enjoyed basketball at St. Ann’s School and, in his youth, played Little League baseball.

His wife, the former Erika M. Reichert, whom he married Aug. 29, 1966, passed away Jan. 12, 2005.

Surviving are: his sister, Denise Andrak Fonagy; and his brother-in-law, John M. Fonagy, who lives with his wife in Masury and assisted in Nick’s care; his godmother, Theresa Bakmaz, Sharon; a niece, Aleta Fonagy, Brookfield; two nephews, Erik Haun and Miguel DeLaHoz, both Boardman, Ohio; and several cousins.

Besides his wife, Nick was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank John XXIII Home, Hermitage; the staff at the emergency room and the fifth-floor doctors, nurses and staff of Sharon Regional Health System; and sixth-floor doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center, Youngstown; and the staffs of Hospice of the Valley, Poland, Ohio; and Health Care Solutions, Sharon.
