Lavigne Manor resident loved family get-togethers

Mary Phyllis “Molly” Murphy, 53 Cathedral Drive, Farrell, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday (7-2-08) in the home of her daughter in Pulaski, after a brief illness. She was 75.

Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Huntingdon, Pa., a daughter of Glen and Marie Hughes States.

She was a 1950 graduate of Cresson (Pa.) High School.    There was never a person who met Phyllis “Molly” who didn’t feel the genuine love and kindness that came straight from her heart. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she so adored.

Her second greatest joy was all of her many, many friends at Lavigne Manor, Farrell. She was very fond of the many get-togethers and good times they all shared. They will greatly miss her.

Her husband, John S. Murphy, whom she married on Jan. 27, 1951, passed away Dec. 23, 1997.

She is survived by: two daughters, Colleen Swartz and her fiancé Blair Sweet, Pulaski; and Judith Bewley and her fiancé William Gagliardi, Farrell; two sons, John D. Murphy and his companion Mary Ann Smith, also Farrell; and Patrick M. Murphy and his wife Eileen, Sharon; a sister, Inez Folley, South Carolina; two brothers, Robert States and his wife Evelyn, Hermitage; and Ken States, Cresson; two grandchildren, Patricia and John Marc Murphy; and two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Nathaniel Murphy.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Thelma Stafford and Marge Harella; and two brothers, Glen and Gene States.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.
