Westinghouse retiree was league bowler, golfer
Ronald Esposito, 2225 Wakefield Drive, Hermitage, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday (5-13-08) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 75.
Mr. Esposito was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Sharon to Adam and Elvira Colecchi Esposito.
He graduated in 1950 from Farrell High School. Ronald then went to Youngstown State University and graduated in 1955 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Ronald worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 27 years as an electrical engineer. He retired in 1983.
He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.
He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957, earning the rank of second lieutenant.
He was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Sharon Lodge 103; Loyal Order of the Moose; Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage; and past president of Sharon Westinghouse Electric Association for eight years.
Ronald was an avid bowler where he played in many local leagues including the tavern league at Thornton Hall and the Westinghouse league.
He enjoyed bocce at the Italian Home and for the city league. He also golfed with local leagues along with the Minutemen League.
He played softball for Westinghouse, enjoyed playing cards and dancing, and was an avid Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan.
Ronald loved life and never complained about his illness. Ron will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Diane Rossi, whom he married Sept. 5, 1959, at home; his mother-in-law, Betty Rossi, at home; a sister-in-law, Faith O’Marrie and her husband William, Hermitage; a brother-in-law, Dr. Anthony Rossi and his companion Tina Scarpaci, Hermitage; his nieces, Kelly Wilkerson and her husband David, Florida; and Tammy O’Marrie, Hermitage; his nephews, Mark Marrie, Texas; Matthew Marrie and his wife Ruth, Sharpsville; Brad Marrie and his wife Vicki, Sharpsville; Brian Marrie and his wife Nan, Cincinnati; and Michael Scarpaci, New Castle; 15 great-nieces and nephews.
He was prdceded in death by his parents and his beloved aunt, Mary Colecchi.
