James Battyanyi, 606 Tidball Ave., Grove City, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday (5-6-08) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 84.
Mr. Battyanyi was born in Sharon, a son of Sigmond and Ethel Pustai Battyanyi.
He attended Sharon schools.
Mr. Battyanyi worked as a self-employed mechanic and also worked as a trader of antiques for several years.
He enjoyed antiquing and tinkering with old tools and in years past, would go to Michelangelo’s Flea Market on 422 in New Castle, where he had his own booth.
James was a former member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Sharpsville.
He leaves: two sons, George Battyanyi, Sharon; and James Battyanyi, Sharpsville; three sisters, Elizabeth Krauss, Grove City; Margy Gasparich and her husband Anthony, Sharon; and Mary Gargano, Greenville; and a brother, Joseph Battyanyi and his wife Elizabeth, Transfer.
James was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rose Krauss, Julia Kaye and Ann Blair Pollock; and two brothers, Steve Battyanyi and Louis Battyanyi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Service and inurnment: In keeping with James’s wishes, cremation has been planned with a memorial service to be held on Monday (5-12-08) in St. Mary’s Cemetery Chapel, Hermitage, with time and priest to be announced.
