Merle A. Bubeck, a resident for 13 years of 1409 Spring Lake Drive, Erie, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie. He was 65.

Mr. Bubeck was born June 6, 1942, in Geneva, Crawford County, to Karl A. and Mary V. McCracken Bubeck.

A 1960 alumnus of Grove City High School, he graduated in 1969 from Grove City College. He was a former drum major with the Grove City Highland Band.

Merle retired from Mellon Bank, Erie, where he was vice president of trust investment since 1981.

He served four years in the Air Force.

He was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church, Zem Zem Shrine Cycle Corps, Western County Shrine Club, and Erie County Shrine Club, all Erie. Merle also belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City, in which he was a past master; and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Oil City, where he was a past exalted ruler.

His wife, the former Christine Ann Lumby, whom he married Nov. 27, 1987, survives at home.

Also surviving are: two children, Joel Bubeck, San Francisco; and Kristy Marsico and her partner Penny Moore, Raleigh, N.C.; two stepchildren, Troy Eck, North Pole, Alaska; and Lance Eck, Billings, Mont.; his first wife, Kay Carol Hester, Raleigh; a sister, Karla McCoy and her husband John, Grove City; two brothers, J. Michael Bubeck and his wife Judy, Lewes, Del.; and Lawrence E. Bubeck and his wife Kathy, Grove City; and 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eugene F. Herman Scottish Rite, Suite A., 50 27th St. West, Billings, MT 59102.

Calling hours: 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (4-30-08) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Memorial service at 1 p.m. Thursday (5-1-08) in the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Hoffman Sr., pastor of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, officiating.
