’73 Hickory grad helped in fundraising efforts


OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — After a 15-month battle with leukemia and associated complications, Rosalinda “Linda” Dobler Dekanich, Oak Ridge, passed away Friday (4-25-08).

Originally from Hermitage, Linda moved to Oak Ridge in July 1977 with her husband Steve and daughter Annette.

During her life Linda was always a giver and never thought of herself. She was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and was a member of the “Gallon Club” blood donors.

She co-chaired numerous St. Mary’s Fall Festival events and fundraisers for Methodist Hospital Foundation Hospitality House, and was an officer in Pilot Club International and chaired many fundraising events.

Her devotion to family was paramount and she truly made a house a home.

A 1973 graduate from Hickory High School in Hermitage, Linda is the daughter of Paul and the late Anna Dobler.

She is survived by her husband, Steve, Oak Ridge; her daughter, Annette, Maryville, Tenn.; her father, Paul Dobler, Hermitage; her brother, Robert J. Dobler, Cochranton; and her sister, Christine Dobler Luchette, Grove City

The family requests memorials be in the form of donations to the Memorial & Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (4-29-08) in Weatherford Mortuary, 158 S. Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, with a Rosary at 8 p.m. An online guest book may be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com

Service: Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday (4-30-08) in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oak Ridge, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating.

Interment: Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
