Edward Bryan ‘Stem’ Stemmerich

Edward Bryan “Stem” Stemmerich of Grove City, formerly of Eau Claire, Butler County, passed away Saturday afternoon (4-26-08) at Shangri-La campground near Pymatuming Lake of a heart attack. He was 51.
Born on Aug. 21, 1956, in Grove City, he was a son of Thomas Edward and Jean Louise Altmire Stemmerich of Eau Claire.
Surviving is his wife, Carol Sue Lean Stemmerich, whom he married Aug. 12, 1986.
He was Protestant by faith.
He was a pickup and delivery truck driver for Ward Trucking for 13 years. He previously worked at Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products in Grove City, from graduation at Moniteau High School with the class of 1974 until a couple of years before the company closing.
Mr. Stemmerich was a SP/4 in the Army Reserves before being honorably discharge in 1980.
He was an officer in the Eagles Club in Grove City and in Mercer American Legion Post 159; and a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Greenville Lodge 145; Loyal Order of the Moose Greenville Lodge 276; and Italian Club, Greenville; as well as Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds.
“Stem” was a great supporter of the fire department, selling countless tickets for their various sportsmen’s nights over the years.
Also surviving are: his three children, a daughter, Katie Stemmerich, at home, a student at Slippery Rock University; a son, Thomas John “T.J.” and wife Amanda, Parker, Clarion County; and a daughter, Bethany Ann Hindman and husband Chris, Callensburgh, Pa., two stepchildren, Patrick Hedglin and his wife Shannon; and Lisa Benedict and her husband Joshua, all Grove City; one sister, Stacy Marano and her husband Larry, Parker; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Service: Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday (4-30-08) in the funeral home. Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion will conduct a veterans memorial service Wednesday morning in the funeral home.
Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
