Project Grass sets annual conference for grazers
Producers from western Pennsylvania and consumers interested in local foods can learn more about managing livestock and feeding systems to improve both livestock and human health.
The 2008 Pennsylvania Project Grass annual grazing conference and farm tours is at the Pantall Hotel in Punxsutawney on Oct. 22 and 23. Nationally known speakers will share their knowledge with producers to help local farms produce healthier livestock products and become more profitable.
The two-day conference includes breakfast with Secretary of Agriculture Dennis Wolf.
Tours are planned for the Smicksburg cheese plant, Windgate Winery, Quiet Creek Herb Farm, and two local dairy farms.
Attendees may register for either one or two days. Register by contacting Penn Soil RC&D Council at 814-226-8160, extension 192. Download the conference brochure and registration form from www.pennsoilrcd.org.
