Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house and youth fire prevention training from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Firefighters and local ambulance crews will demonstrate how to properly remove a victim from a wrecked vehicle using hand and power tools. Splash tanks for the kids, hands-on demonstration of fire hoses and other firefighting tools will be part of the department’s day to say thank you to the community for its support.
Pieceful Pursuits Quilt Guild in Clark is sponsoring a lecture and trunk show on “The Scrap Users System” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage.
The lecture will go through Bonnie Hunter’s method of scrap quilting.
Vendors, quilt raffle, prizes and refreshments are included in the $10 admission price.
Fundraisers
Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church, 950 Maple Drive, Hermitage, will bake fresh pumpkin rolls every Wednesday starting next week. They can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost: $10 each.

Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 110 Water St., is having a stuffed pork chop or stuffed chicken breast dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Cost: $8 for adults; $4, children.

A used book sale is set for 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Sept. 25 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 in Greenville Area Public Library, 330 Main St.
A bag sale is set for Sept. 25. Fill a brown bag or your own tote for $4 with any items from the sale. Books, DVDs, VHSs and CDs will be available.
A Chinese auction will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 26 in Grove City Masonic Hall, 1340 W. Main St..
