Meeting

• Mercer County Korean War Veterans meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wheatland American Legion 432. All veterans who served during the war and served in Korea since are welcome.

Kids stuff

• Boys in kindergarten through fifth grade can join Cub Scouts, where they learn new things, make new friends and have fun, while learning citizenship, honesty, responsibility, respect and more.

• Buhl Community Recreation Center, Sharon, holds registration for tot swim lessons from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 27 and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Classes will be held once a week for eight weeks, beginning Sept. 3.

Class schedule: Water Babies, 6 months to 2è years; Tiny Tots, 2è to 5 years; Mini Novice, 3 to 5 years; Mini Survival, 3 to 5 years; and Advance Tots, 3 to 5 years.

Fees range from $38 to $40 for the sessions, except Advanced Tots, which requires an annual club membership, plus $10.

Instructor will be Maureen Hobson.

Special event

• A block party is set for noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the Prince of Peace Center, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell.
