Items sought for garage sale to aid girls’ home

GROVE CITY — Donated items are needed for a garage sale planned for Aug. 8 and 9 to benefit The Laura Walker Project, a maternity home planned for teen-age mothers in Grove City.

Anyone interested in donating items to be sold at the garage sale may call Laura Colapietro at 724-372-1251 or Jessica Hartle at 724-992-0651.

Pick-up service is available if needed. All proceeds will benefit the maternity home.

Local vendors sought for Jefferson Township Fair

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — The 38th Annual Jefferson Township Fair Committee is seeking vendors for the 2008 fair, scheduled July 22 to 26 at the fairgrounds, on Lamor Road between Mercer and Hermitage.

Cost is $100 for an indoor space and $70 for an outdoor space for the entire week.

No food vendors are sought at this time.

Red Cross offering class on safe baby-sitting

SHARPSVILLE — A babysitters’ training course is planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 at the American Red Cross office, 517 W. Main St., Sharpsville.

Participants will learn to perform first aid and get emergency help fast; identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries; make responsible decisions; supervise infants through school-age children; choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games; perform basic care routines like diapering, feeding and dressing; prepare simple meals and snacks; and handle bedtime issues.

Cost to participate is $40. Participants will receive a first aid kit, babysitter’s handbook and a babysitter’s portfolio. Plan to bring your own lunch.
