Special events

• The Mercer County New Freedom Initiative Committee, an organization dedicated to transforming the way Behavioral Health Services are delivered locally, will host its second annual Recovery Conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Counseling Center, Hermitage.
This year’s theme “Finding your Voice in the Wilderness of Recovery” will have various workshops related to the topic.

• The NAACP will host “A Day In The Park” from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Square, Farrell.
Several activities will be held, along with the observance of the 54th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision on May 17, 1954.
Activities will include: motivational speakers, music, children’s games, food and drink, along with informational booths on nutrition, health, and the branch’s programs.
Everyone is welcome.  
Fundraiser

• The “First Flea Market and Bazaar,” celebrating 180 years of ministry in the Shenango Valley and benefiting Central Christian Church, 218 Meadowbrook Road, Hermitage, is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7.
Vendor space is available at $15 a space and vendors provide their own tables.
There will be an outdoor barbecue and bake sale, and members of the Shenango Valley Antique Automobile Club have been invited to bring their classic cars.

Reunion

• Lakeview High School All School reunion will be held at McQuiston Center by the Park, Sandy Lake, on July 8. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with the catered dinner buffet beginning at 7.
Cost is $18 a person and $35 for couples.
Anyone from classes 1954 to present who attended Lakeview High School is welcome. The class of 1958 will be honored on its 50th reunion.
Anyone who wishes to attend should send reservations with check payable to “Lakeview Alumni” by July 7 to: Sherry M. Reynolds, Box 246, Stoneboro 16153-0246. Please indicate year of graduation with your reservation.
Any class reunion chairmen who have not been contacted are asked to call 724-699-0797.
Kids stuff

ä Sharon Colts PeeWee Cheerleading signups for youngsters entering third and fourth grade in 2008-09 school can be made by calling Brenda Royer, 724-854-0665, by May 27.

Meeting
ä Sharpsville High School class of 1963 gathers for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jess’s Restaurant, East State Street, Hermitage.
All are welcome.
