Fundraisers
• Herb Thymers will sponsor a garden decor sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the former site of the Bissett Chevrolet dealership, 130 N. Pitt St., Mercer, as part of the borough’s community yard sale.
Some miscellaneous yard sale items also will be sold.
• Diversified Family Services is having a multi family /yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7.
There will also be refreshments and baked goods. All proceeds go toward DFS’s scholarship fund.
They are also accepting donations of household items, in good condition. Call 724-346-2123 and ask for either Stacey or Jacki. The sale is at Diversified Family Services, 5455 E. State St., Hermitage, next to the Hermitage VFW.
• South Pymatuning Volunteer Fire Department, 3505 Tamarack Drive, is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
• Shenango Valley Senior Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, holds a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through May 23. Info: 724-981-7950.
• iXL Rehab & Fitness Center, 139 North Erie St., Mercer, will be conducting a St. Jude Workout to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Anyone wishing to work out for this event will receive a free two-week pass to iXL.
Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers. Register by phone, 724-662-1776 or come in to iXL Rehab, Exercise and Wellness Center to fill out a form.
Picnic
• The 19th Annual West Middlesex High School picnic will begin at 5:30 p.m. July 10 at Shenango Township Park.
All those who attended West Middlesex High School are invited. Bring a casserole or dessert and a guest. In case of bad weather it will be held at the Presbyterian Church, Main Street, West Middlesex.
Meeting
• The Peterson Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. May 21 at the home of Ken Peterson, 359 Beatty School Road, Hadley.
The association is asking for donations (mail to address above) to help with the cost of maintaining the cemetery. Please make checks payable to the Peterson Cemetery Association. Info: 724-301-7578.
Special events
• Mercer County Vietnam Era Veterans Association will hold its 13th Annual “Remembrance and Reflections” Memorial Ceremony to honor the Mercer County men who were killed in action and missing in action in the Vietnam War. The event begins at 2 p.m. Sunday outside the Mercer County Courthouse.
• Brookfield Township firefighters, auxiliary members and police invite the public to the annual memorial service honoring deceased members at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the fire hall, 774 state Route 7 North. • Fredonia American Legion will hold a flag retirement ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dustin Coffey, an Eagle Scout. A luncheon will follow the ceremony.

• Farrell High School class of 1962 will hold its 46th class reunion Aug. 16 at Oak Tree Country Club, Shenango Township.
There will be a get-together at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at Avalon Golf and Country Club at Buhl Park.

Sign-ups
• Brookfield Little Warrior football and cheerleader registration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Brookfield High School gym.
Age 6-8 for Sqiugs, 9-10 for PeeWees, and 11-12 for Midgets. The cut-off date for age is July 31. First-time players and cheerleaders need to have copies of birth certificates.
