Fundraisers
• Volant Volunteer Fire Company holds a ham dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. May 22.
Dinner includes potato, vegetable, salad, homemade bread, dessert and beverage.
Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and younger.

• Hartford Fire Association along with Burghill Vernon Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall located on Hartford Five Points Road in Hartford Township.
Breakfast includes pancakes or French toast, eggs and sausage, milk, orange juice, coffee and tea. Sausage gravy over biscuits will also be available.
Cost is $6 for adults; $5 for seniors; $4 for children ages 5 to 12; and children younger than age 5 are free.

• Bentley House hold a presentation by Carolyn Hartle on POA and Living Wills at 6 p.m. May 21.

Special events
• Mercer County Vietnam Era Veterans Association will be holding is 13th annual “Remembrance and Reflections” Memorial Ceremony to honor the Mercer County men who were killed in action and missing in action in the Vietnam War. The event begins at 2 p.m. Sunday outside the Mercer County Courthouse, next to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Mercer. Family members and friends of those men, as well as the general public and veterans organizations are invited to attend and be part of the ceremony.
• Brookfield Township firefighters, auxiliary members and police invite the public to the annual Memorial Service honoring our deceased members at 7 p.m. May 20 at the fire hall, 774 State Route 7 North.
Refreshments will follow.

• American Legion Post 299, Sharon, and the Legion’s Department of Pennsylvania announce a Veterans Outreach Service for Mercer County veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and the third Thursday of each month.
Any veteran needing help with a VA claim, medical benefits or general information is urged to attend. Veterans may make appointments by calling 342-9093 or stopping by the post home.
Veterans are reminded to take their DD-214 and any other military discharge papers with them.
Meetings
• A special town meeting will begin at 7 p.m. today at Musser Elementary School, at the corner of Spruce Avenue and Leslie Street in Sharon.
Those attending will meet with Mayor Bob Lucas and Police Chief Mike Menster, Sharon City Council members and other city department supervisors and leaders about cleaning up neighborhoods while maintaining peace and order.
• Mercer County Korean War Veterans holds a monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wheatland American Legion.

• Greenville High School class of 1946 meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Stone Arch Restaurant, Hadley Road, Greenville.
• Kus-Kus-Ka Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists have scheduled a luncheon meeting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the home of Vivian Lewis of Grove City.
Our Pennsylvania State Regent, Mrs. John C. Herman II, will be attending.
Melissa McClymonds will present a program entitled “People, Places and Personalities.”

Dances
• Greenville Area Leisure Services Association holds the following dances at the Rec. Center, 45 Alan Ave. Students can enjoy dancing to a local deejay, free pool and ping pong, and a chance to win door prizes. Dances are chaperoned by GALSA staff and volunteers and with Reinhart Security. There is an admission fee. Dances are:
– Elementary Dance for students in grades four through six, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday.
– Junior High Dance for students in Greenville, Reynolds, Jamestown and Commodore Perry schools only, 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

• Dr. Alan Evangelista will speak on “Common Problems of the Foot and Ankle” at 11 a.m. May 20 at Shenango Valley Senior Community Center, 220 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage.
Free foot and ankle screenings will be held the same day from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
