Special events

• Pass it on Day will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 17 at Emmanuel Christian Church, 4495 Greenville-Sandy Lake Road, New Vernon Township. 
There will be free clothing for men, women, children and infants, all ages and sizes, as well as free household items, including furniture and furnishings.
Free coffee and donuts will be served. The event is open to the public. Info: 724-376-3412, Ext. 10.
• American Legion Post 299, Sharon, and the Legion’s Department of Pennsylvania announce a Veterans Outreach Service is available to Mercer County veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 15 and every third Thursday of each month.
Any veteran needing help with a VA claim, medical benefits or general information is urged to make plans to attend. Veterans may make appointments by calling 342-9093 or stopping by the post home.
Veterans are reminded to take their DD-214 and/or any other military discharge papers with them.
Fundraisers

• The 10th annual flea market to benefit the Hermitage Historical Society is set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stewart House driveway and Whispering Pines Park walkway. Set up at 6:30 a.m. at the garage at Stewart House.
Vendor space is available for $10 and you must bring your own tables.
There will be a variety of crafter, books, food and more.
All proceeds benefit the society. This year’s need is roof repairs and blacktop to complete the driveway.
• Mercer County Master Gardeners are holding their 12th annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mercer County 4-H Park Exhibit Building, 1è miles north of Mercer on Route 19. There will be annuals, perennials, vegetables and herbs.
Garden art will be available for sale. Master Gardeners will also be available to answer questions and give gardening tips.

• The Men’s Group of Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Hall Ave., Hubbard, are sponsoring their 40th-year kraut dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. May 17.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 5 to 12, and free for under 5.
Thrivent Financial Trumbull County Chapter will provide matching funds to support projects in the church and the community.
• Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department is having a yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 16 and 17 at the fire hall, 1648 Bend Road.
Donations of clean cloting in good condition will be accepted from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the fire hall.

• A garage sale will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 17 at North Sharon Fire Hall, Thornton Street, Sharon.
There will be lunch and a bake sale. Tables are $6.
The event is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Bus trip

• Penn Power Retirees of Clark have scheduled a bus trip for June 19 at Riverside Inn, Cambridge Springs. The bus will pick up participants at 10:15 a.m. at Kmart, Hermitage.

Support group

• Mercer County Chapter, Parents of Murdered Children, families and friends of those who have died by violence will gather from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at UPMC Horizon, 2200 Memorial Blvd., Farrell.
Meetings are held the second Saturday of each month.

Meetings

• Stony Point Homemakers meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Carini’s Restaurant, Main Street, Greenville.
Martha Anderson is hostess and Aleen Danner is co-hostess. After the meeting and election of officers, there will be a lunch.
Bring a funny story or article to share with the group. As a reminder, the Good Shepherd dinner is May 19. Sign-up sheets will be passed around.
Also bring a non-food product to be donated to the Salvation Army.
• A special town meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Musser Elementary School, Cedar Avenue at Leslie Street.
Those attending will meet with Sharon Mayor Bob Lucas and Police Chief Mike Menster, plus city council members, and other city department supervisors and leaders.
Now is the time to join our neighbors as they “adopt-a-block” and clean up our neighborhoods while maintaining peace and order.
• Mercer County Board of Assistance Retirees meets a 1 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans of Foreign Wars, Route 62, Sharon.
