Meetings

• Northwest Democrat Alliance will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars, Conneaut Lake Road (Route 18). 
• Sharon High School class of 1956 gathers for lunch at noon May 14 at Jess’s restaurant, Hermitage. Spouses welcome. Info: Jean, 724-347-7590; or Donna, 724-962-5551.
• The spring party for Wimodausis will be held at noon May 14 at Scottish Rite Cathedral, New Castle. This is the group’s annual fun day.

Fundrasiers

• iXL Rehab & Fitness Center, 139 North Erie S., Mercer, will be conducting a St. Jude “Workout” to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 17. This event will be open to the public and anyone wishing to work out for this event will receive a free two-week pass to iXL Rehab and Fitness Center.
Register by phone, 724-662-1776 or come in to iXL Rehab, Exercise and Wellness Center to fill out a form.
Prizes are awarded to “TOP” fundraisers.
All participants in the event will receive a certification from St. Jude Children’s Hospital acknowledging your kindness and support.
• A garage sale/quilt raffle will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilmington Township, Mercer County, municipal building, 35 Auction Road, New Wilmington.
There will be fresh doughnuts, Ohio Star Quilt raffle and a variety of other items. Tickets for the quilt raffle are $1 a ticket or six tickets for $5.

• Coolspring Presbyterian Church is having a spring bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Half-price sale will be held during the last hour of the event.
There will be baked goods, handicraft items and good used items.
Proceeds will benefit the Habitat for Humanity project in Mercer.
Directions to the church: Route 19 north of Mercer, turn at Palmer Pools, church is two miles on the right.
• Pieceful Pursuits Quilt Guild presents Quilts Now & Then Baskets Galore from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brandy Springs Park, Route 158, Mercer.
Enjoy a display of basket quilt blocks, challenge quilts, bazaar table, lunch, quilt shop vendors as well as new and antique quilts.
Lunch will be available as well as a bazaar table featuring many different items made by the members. The group has recently published a cookbook and it will also be available to purchase.

• Whispering Oaks Retirement Community, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, is sponsoring a Chinese auction to benefit Keystone Blind Assocation Key Kids and their multi-sensory trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto, Ontario. The community businesses were very generous, donating over 30 prizes valued between $25 and $100.
Tickets are three for $1 or 20 for $5, and can be purchased at Whispering Oaks through Saturday. Winner need not be present to win. Stop in and check out our wonderful prizes.

• Shenango Valley Faith Academy is holding an all-you-can-eat pizza and salad buffet fundraiser at Pizza Hut, 400 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Cost is $6.99 for adults and $3.99 for ages 4 to 10.
A generous portion of the proceeds go to the Shenango Valley Faith Academy.
Special event

• National Active & Retired Federal Employees Chapter 657 of Mercer, Lawrence, Crawford and Venango counties will host a retirement planning meeting Monday at Volant Fire Hall, Route 208 in Volant. A roast beef dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
A panel discussion on “Preparing For a Successful Retirement” will take place, and handout information will be available.
Cost of dinner is $8 per person.
