‘For the Love of Coffee’ coming to Butler County

Coffee enthusiasts will pour into western Pennsylvania next week for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regional Barista Competitions. This “Iron Chef”-like event, hosted by Kiva Han Coffee, a Pittsburgh coffee roaster, marks the first time the competition will be held in the region.
The “For the Love of Coffee”-themed competition takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 to 8 at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township, Butler County.
Winners from both the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions will be named at the conclusion of the final round on Feb. 8. The winners advance to the national championships in Portland, Ore., later in the year.
Competition rounds take place throughout the day, so guests can arrive at any time and stay as long as they like.
Also, each day area restaurants/eateries will feature their most tempting desserts. The chefs will also perform recipe demonstrations. Attendees will be able to enjoy a menu of specialty coffee drinks, including the signature drink created by each day’s winner.
